Update #1: redsn0w beta has been updated to hacktivate iOS 4.0 for iPhone3G (in addition to jailbreaking the iPhone3G and iPod Touch 2G). The download links for redsn0w 0.9.5b5-3 are:
For now, the redsn0w beta release supports only the iPhone3G and iPod Touch 2G at today’s 4.0. It’s still a beta, so you’ll need to let Cydia reorganize, reload, and update after using redsn0w.
Visit their blog here: http://blog.iphone-dev.org/T-Mobile USA users please disable 3G network first.
Installing UltraSn0w 0.93 will unlock iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G running iOS 4.0 with baseband 04.26.08 to 05.13.04. Once the installation is completed, reboot your iPhone and when it reboots thats it your iPhone 3GS, 3G baseband 05.13.04 and can use SIM from any carrier now.
Backing up your SHSH blobs (files) will allow you to downgrade to an earlier (Jailbreakable) version of the iPhone software if you ever accidentally upgrade or apply a security path distributed by Apple. Saving the files is not necessary to take advantage of the upcoming Spirit Jailbreak, or any other Jailbreak, but it can prepare you for the eventual issues you may have down the road and it’s a simple process so I’d recommend it.
Before you begin using this guide, you’ll need your devices ECID, to find it, use this tutorial.
To get your SHSH files, simply download Firmware Umbrella, which is used to capture and save ECID. This tool is available for both, Mac and Windows.
1. Unzip and run Firmware Umbrella.
2. Enter your iPhone’s ECID. If you do not know how to find ECID of your iDevice then follow this guide.
3. A file will be saved into the Firmware Umbrella directory. Save this file somewhere safe.
That’s it, you’ve got your SHSH files and you’re safe should anything happen.
OR i have complied the enitre process with pictures in this file *HERE*
The new iPhone 4 announced at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference 2010.
Since Apple gave us a sneak peek back in April of what's new on the iPhone's latest OS, CEO Steve Jobs' WWDC keynote speech (live blog) failed to blow us away. However, Jobs did claim 1,500 incremental improvements to the new operating system, including a new name: iOS 4.
New name: Apple is calling its new OS "iOS 4," since it works for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
Multitasking: At long last, we'll be able to run multiple apps--including third-party apps--at the same time.
E-mail: iOS 4 gets a unified in-box for multiple e-mail accounts. It includes threaded e-mail conversations and the ability to delete all conversations at once.
Folders: Create folders by dragging one app on top of another, a good way to create a sort-of application launcher. You can rename folders and drag on more apps at any time.
Camera software: As camera hardware jumps from 3 megapixels to 5, the onboard software gets 5x digital zoom and tap to focus.
HD video recording: New to iOS 4 is a high-def recording rate of 720p at 30 frames per second (and keeps the LED flash on for HD recordings). One-click sharing from the phone.
iMovie will let you edit high-def iPhone 4 videos from the phone, but it will cost you $5 to get it.
(Credit: James Martin/CNET)iMovie for iPhone: The iMovies app can edit HD videos from the phone. From there, you'll be able to MMS, share videos via MobileMe, YouTube, and e-mail--but notably not through Facebook. iMovie will be able to pan and zoom and add effects, transitions, and themes. It will also tack geolocation into the movie titles. You can record videos directly into a video timeline and pinch to change the scale or drag to trim or edit the video. You'll also be able to choose your export size. iMovie will cost $4.99 in the App Store.
Video conferencing: Taking advantage of the front-facing camera is support for video conferencing. FaceTime, as it's called, works over Wi-Fi in landscape or portrait mode for any iOS 4 device with a front-facing camera. Wi-Fi only for now, but Jobs hinted that 3G is coming.
iBooks: Later this month, you'll be able to annotate, tap to bookmark a page, view and read PDFs, and select between books or PDFs within your iBooks shelves. The table of contents will display all your bookmarks and notes.
Bing: Apple is adding Bing to iPhone's search. You'll be able to choose Google, Yahoo, or Bing for your search engine.
Enterprise integration: Data protection, device management, wireless app distribution, deeper VPN support, and support for multiple Exchange accounts (and Exchange Server 2010) are coming to iOS 4.
iAds: A new ad platform builds ads into apps, and keeps the app experience bound within the app. Translation: You won't get kicked out of the app if you click an ad.
Miscellaneous additions: Half curl page transitions and draggable map annotations all for app developers.
Availability: Developers get iOS 4 on Monday, which means that the general public won't. iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, and iPod Touch (except the first generation) will get a free upgrade on their existing iPhones on June 21, though not all features will be supported off the bat--for example, FaceCall, which requires a front-facing camera that those devices don't have.

Kinect Coming on November 4, Lets You Video Chat and Use Voice Commands
One of the details about Kinect that still hadn't been revealed up until today's conference was its release date. Microsoft announced today that it will be coming to the United States on November 4 along with 15 launch games but neglected to announce any sort of price. It did, however, demonstrate some of Kinect's cool non-gaming functionality. Video Kinect allows you to video chat with friends over Xbox Live or with people on Windows Live Messenger, which in and of itself isn't revolutionary, but we also saw two video chatters watch a video together. We also got to see how you can control videos and music through either hand gestures or voice commands to change music tracks or fast forward, pause, or play a video.
New Slim Xbox 360 Coming This Week
Long rumored to be in the works and then leaked through an advertisement just recently, Microsoft ended its press conference with the reveal of a slim Xbox 360. As you can see above, it's black and eliminates the curved design of the current Xbox 360 design. It's equipped with a 250GB hard drive and, at long last, will include an 802.11N wireless adapter. While the slim's announcement wasn't much of a surprise, given how heavily it had been rumored, what was surprising was that it's shipping beginning today and will be available for $299 later this week. Don Mattrick then pulled an Oprah move and announced that everyone at the press conference would be receiving a free slim Xbox 360 system.
ESPN Bringing Live Sports to Xbox Live in HD
Hulu was nowhere to be seen, almost certainly because Microsoft is still trying to work out the rights issues involved with it, but ESPN filled the gap by being the newest service to be added to the Xbox Live suite. SportsCenter anchors Josh Elliott and Trey Wingo took to the stage to announce an ESPN video service that will allow Xbox Live Gold members to watch more than 3,500 live and on-demand sporting events over Xbox Live, with much of that content coming in HD. Among the sports it will carry are the NBA, MLB, college football, soccer, and college basketball. Should you have Kinect, you'll be able to browse ESPN content with it, with Josh Elliott showing the ability to have it replay a clip over and over by simply saying, "Xbox: Replay."
Kinect Games Get Demoed: Dance Central, Forza, Your Shape and More
The bulk of the conference felt like it was a demonstration for the games you'll be able to play with Kinect. Microsoft wasn't especially specific when it came to announcing release dates and which titles will be available with Kinect on November 4, but the most likely candidate is Kinect Sports. Among the featured activities in the game are bowling, track and field, soccer, javelin, long jump, table tennis, boxing and volleyball. Other games were demoed as well, including the EyePet competitor Kinectimals, an adorable game that had a young girl playing with a virtual tiger on stage. Kinect Adventures appears to be a compilation of motion control minigames; we saw both a River Race and a game where you had to collect tokens by jumping and leaning while on a moving platform. Maybe the coolest part of the Kinect Adventures demo was seeing the game suddenly go into split-screen multiplayer -- in the middle of a game -- when a second person walked up and stood alongside the first player. And Joy Ride is indeed still alive and was shown.
There was a brief video of the Star Wars lightsaber game that was announced at the Kinect event last night which culminated with a lightsaber battle against Darth Vader. We also saw the newly announced Dance Central from Harmonix which seems to be the next evolution of the DDR games. Dance Central featured a mode that claims to be able to teach you how to dance -- we'll see about that. A new Your Shape game looked to be very much like Wii Fit without the balance board. And finally we saw what appears to be a new Forza game from Turn 10 that lets you drive by holding your hands up as if you were handling a steering wheel and look around the interior by moving your head. There was also a virtual showcase mode that allowed you to walk around a car, examine parts like the headlights, and get inside and look around. Milo was nowhere to be seen.
Microsoft Gets First Dibs on Call of Duty Map Packs
After a demonstration of Call of Duty: Black Ops, which featured a segment from the single-player campaign where you hijack a helicopter and then blow up enemies (and bridges) with it, Microsoft announced an exclusivity agreement they've made with Activision involving the Call of Duty franchise. Future Call of Duty games, Black Ops included, will be released just as they normally would on all platforms, but just as with the first two map packs for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Xbox 360 gamers will get first dibs on all map packs for Call of Duty games in 2010, 2011, and 2012.
Metal Gear Solid: Rising Makes its Debut
It wasn't especially Metal Gear Solid-like, but Rising made its debut a year after it was announced at Microsoft's E3 press conference in 2009. Described as a "sword action game unlike any you've seen before," the trailer showed Raiden slice-and-dice through enemies and scenery alike with his sword. It was extremely violent -- he sliced an enemy into multiple pieces in slow-motion while the enemy was suspended in the air -- until the ending sequence, where we saw Raiden nicely cut up a watermelon.
Halo Reach Has Space Combat in its Campaign
The campaign mode of Halo Reach was demoed for the very first time to the public. It looked slick, but beside some fairly massive battles, it didn't look especially different from what we've come to expect from Halo. Then came the end of the trailer when we saw a Spartan enter a spaceship and engage in combat with another ship. It lasted just a few seconds, but the promise of space combat in the Reach campaign is exciting news.
Fable 3 Dated, Crytek's New Spartacus-Like Game, and Gears of War 3 Co-Op
And then there were the other game demonstrations. We got the first look at Gears of War 3's 4-player campaign co-op, and it looked very much like Gears with female characters. We also got word on the release date for Fable 3: It's coming on October 26. And we got a look at Crytek's Xbox 360 exclusive game, referred to as Codename Kingdoms, which was very reminiscent of Spartacus and Gladiator.
First Look at the 3DS Hardware
Though we all knew Nintendo was planning to unveil the 3DS, they actual device had been shrouded in mystery until now. This actually came at the end of the show, but since it got most of Nintendo's attention, it got most of ours as well. The device itself looks almost exactly like the current DS model, though it sports a 3.5 inch top screen and a "slide pad" for analog control. It also comes packaged with a motion sensor and accelerometer -- but as not to interfere with the 3D effect, only the bottom screen is touch sensitive.
The device also comes equipped with two cameras on the outside, which will allow users to take 3D pictures. And though Nintendo wasn't sharing many details yet, they claim it can also display 3D movies. The company mentioned partnerships with with Disney, Warner Bros., and Dreamworks. And of course, as a selling point for the system, all of these functions (including the movies) could be viewed without the use of 3D glasses.
Finally, the device is equipped with some form of "always on" functionality. Iwata teased that it's a lot like what we've seen on the Wii and former DS, but is more automatic. As a result, it can download new data like ghost races from other 3DS systems without the player even realizing it.

3DS' Ambitious Game Plans
Fortunately, Nintendo also recognized that while hardware is all well and good, gamers care about the games. The 3DS already has a pretty massive number of games announced for it, including 3rd-person action game Kid Icarus Uprising and Nintendogs + cats. Third-party support is no slouch either, as the company showed off a number of partnerships. Square Enix (Kingdom Hearts), Activision, Level 5, THQ, Electronic Arts, Tecmo Koei, Capcom (Resident Evil), Warner Bros., Ubisoft (Assassin's Creed), Namco Bandai, and Konami (Metal Gear Solid) were all announced for the device.
Shortly after the conference, Ubisoft announced its six planned titles including Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell. Only a few moments after that, we discovered a gigantic list of planned games, including new additions to Star Fox, Pilotwings, Paper Mario, and Mario Kart. It's simply too massive to mention them all here, so check out the full list for details.

MotionPlus Zelda Coming 2011
While Nintendo's 3DS was the big finish, the company tried to put their best foot forward at the beginning as well. The show opened with the announcement and live stage demonstration of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The look of the game borrows from both the more realistic Twilight Princess character art, and the Wind Waker cel-shading. It's been announced for a release sometime in 2011.
Players use a MotionPlus-equipped Wii remote to control Link's sword, and the nunchuck to control his shield. The game seems to put heavy emphasis on angle of attack, since most enemies have protection from certain sword swipes. The sword can be charged for a beam of energy, and when out of combat mode Link can run and climb over small obstacles. Unfortunately, the demonstration was riddled with technical problems, which Nintendo chalked up to "wireless interference." They claim the game will work perfectly in hands-on demonstrations, so we'll report back our own findings.

Nintendo's Colorful Cast Graces the Wii
Nintendo has used a lot of its cast of characters on the Wii, but today's show reminded us that the well hasn't run dry. The company announced that Retro Studios, fresh off its Metroid titles, is making the side-scrolling action title Donkey Kong Country Returns. It looks every bit an updated follow-up to the SNES classics. Kirby's Epic Yarn was also announced at the show, featuring a unique visual style that stitches the elements together from bits of fabric and yarn. Finally, Nintendo showed a gameplay trailer for Mario Sports Mix, featuring the Mario cast playing volleyball, hockey, dodgeball, and basketball.

The Other Tidbits
Of course, not everything could be a surprise. We saw a gameplay demonstration of Epic Mickey, which showed off the 3D platforming along with a 2D stage. We couldn't tell if it got a graphical overhaul, which means it probably didn't. The new Golden Sun received the subtitle Dark Dawn. And short trailers were shown for Metroid: Other M, coming August 31, and the new Goldeneye.
Conspicuously absent was any mention of the Vitality Sensor. We expected Nintendo to finally show off their plans for the device, but now we have to wonder if they're still planning to release it at all. And while the 3DS debut was nice, no price or release window was mentioned, so we're still mostly in the dark.

Major surprises include Portal 2 and Twisted Metal, the latter of which is exclusive. Sony also announced plenty of exclusive limited edition exclusives for games like Medal of Honor, along with the new PlayStation Plus.
Here's the complete rundown.
PS3 3D: Killzone 3 in Action
Kaz Hirai was Sony's first speaker, and he started off by talking about 3D while various supported games were shown in the background.
"2010 will most likely be remembered as the year the PlayStation brought 3D to the gaming industry," he said.
The centerpiece of the demonstration was Killzone 3, which was given a live demo on stage. Helghast troopers were shown attacking with jet packs on an ice planet. After the foes are dispatched, the main character grabs the jet pack for himself. There's also a rail shooting segment that puts the player behind a chaingun.
After the Killzone 3 demonstration, Sony confirmed that Gran Turismo 5, MotorStorm Apocalypse, The Sly Collection. Crysis 2, Mortal Kombat, Shaun White Skateboarding, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Tron Evolution and NBA 2K11 will all feature 3D support.
Killzone 3 will be available February 2011, and will be fully compatible with the PlayStation Move at launch.

The PlayStation Move: Sorcery, Tiger and Heroes on the Move
One of the new games introduced by Sony is Sorcery, which pits a younger sorcerer against the "Nightmare Queen." The demo is spent exploring a large dungeon, with actions with the wand affect spell power and trajectory. Sorcery is due Spring 2011.
EA Sports head of worldwide development Andrew Wilson demonstrated the Move's compatibility with Tiger Woods PGA Golf. Unfortunately for Wilson, his shots kept going in the sand bunkers, so his primary focus was demonstrating the peripheral's 1:1 motion support as he tried to save par. Support for the Move will be added as a downloadable update when the peripheral arrives later this year.
Finally, Sony showed a trailer for Heroes on the Move. Designed specifically for the Move, it features Jax, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and others working together for the first time.
Move will be available for $49.99, with the Navigation Controller being available for $29.99. The bundle will include the controllers plus Sports Champions for $99.99, with standalone games being priced at $39.99.
Look for Move on September 15 in Europe and September 19 in North America,

The PSP: Invizimals, Ghost of Sparta, Patapon 3
They also unveiled a new trailer for God of War: Ghost of Sparta, which strongly hints that it will be an origin story for Kratos, putting it even further back than the original Chains of Olympus.
Sony is promising to continue its support for PSP, releasing more than 70 games by December. They include Valkyria Chronicles 2, The 3rd Birthday, Patapon 3 and a PSP version of EyePet.

Little Big Planet 2
Media Molecule also invited the top creators and let them run wild over the course of 24 hours. The result was everything from a Tempest-like 3D shooter to a full real-time strategy game. It's also possible to create custom HUDs and other mechanics using the in-game tools.
Little Big Planet 2 is due this fall.
PlayStation Plus
The subscription will be priced at $49.99 for a year, or $17.99 for three months. In addition, the first three months will be available free, with the first month featuring WipeOut HD, a trial for inFamous, Field Runners, Age of Zombies and Rally Cross for the PS1. Portal 2 Coming to PS3
"I've been pretty outspoken in my comments about next-generation game consoles. So I would like to thank everyone at Sony for their gracious hospitality and not repeatedly punching me in the face," Newell joked.
Newell said that the PS3 version of the game will be the "best version on any console," featuring Steam cloud support.

Twisted Metal
After an intro trailer, mascot Sweet Tooth actually drove onto the stage as Jaffe introduced his game. It will feature air combat for the first time, and will throw in elements like motorcycles.
The centerpiece was the new mode "Nuke," which is team, objective-based mode. The factions that were featured were based around characters Sweet Tooth and Dollface, with the goal being to capture the faction leader. The new game will also feature a full campaign mode. It's scheduled for release sometime in 2011.

Also on display were inFamous 2 and Final Fantasy XIV, which received new trailers. The former is due in 2011.
Check out the inFamous 2 trailer here.
Microsoft unveil a new-look Xbox 360 for immediate launch, and titles for their motion-sensitive Kinect out in November...
Microsoft have just finished their annual press event at E3, in which various strangely-dressed execs took to the stage to demo new software - and hardware - for the Xbox 360.
The new Kinect device (previously code-named Natal) took up the vast majority of the conference's time, and was shown to accurately reproduce movements on screen via camera. The add-on can be used for video chatting and also recognises your voice, allowing for system navigation by voice control. There was a long section on how this could be implemented on the ESPN channel, but we fell asleep as American commentators took the stage and waffled about American Football for too long. And also made a joke about Robert Green. Sob.
Software for Kinect included a Wii Sports clone from Rare named "Kinect Sports", a rather Mario Kart-esque title named "Kinect Joy Ride", and a Wii Fit style game from Ubisoft, "Your Shape: Fitness Evolved". Also demoed was the new Forza III, controllable as if you were holding a steering wheel in your hands.
A modicum of originality was maintained by non-Kinect titles, as Call of Duty: Black Ops, Metal Gear: Rising, Fable III and Halo Reach all looked impressive, despite being a bit of a sequel-fest. Metal Gear will allow for the precision slicing of enemies with your katana. You can even take time out to slice up watermelon.
The conference closed with a look at the new, slimmer version of the Xbox 360, for which Microsoft passed "How to Win Over an Audience of Games Journalists 101" by giving to all present in the room. The updated console comes with built-in Wi-Fi and will launch this week in North America for the same price as the existing unit (read: next month in Europe, price TBC). Kinect will launch November 7th in North America.
Were you impressed by Microsoft's offerings? Let us know your thoughts below...
Microsoft has revealed final details of its Xbox 360 hands-free motion control system, which it has rebranded Kinect.
The device, which was originally codenamed Project Natal, was showcased ahead of the opening of the E3 games expo, which starts on 15 June in LA.
Microsoft has said Kinect will hit shelves before the end of the year.
It will face competition from Sony's PlayStation Move controller and Nintendo's upgraded WiiMotion Plus.
Both are expected to feature at the E3 expo, which runs from 15-17 June.
Kinect was shown off at a glitzy event alongside compatible games, which support the new hands-free interface and, in some cases, the facial and voice recognition capabilities.
These ranged from jumping and flying games to a yoga simulator and Star Wars shooter, in which players control a virtual light sabre and use hand gestures to control action on the screen.
There was also a virtual pet, which can be controlled and played with using Kinect. Microsoft says it will release the full details of its games at another media event on 14 June.
Another Kinect game that was demoed on the night was Dance Central from MTV Games which allows the player to coordinate their dance moves in time to an on-screen prompt.
Although less than two minutes of it was shown, with No Doubt's Hella Good track thumping in the background, it illustrated the various new markets that Microsoft hope its new controller will expand into.
Although an exact release date for Kinect has yet to be announced, some retailers have already published web pages in anticipation.
Game says it will be available on pre-order from 13 June 2010.
More details to be available today as Microsoft's Press briefing is underway for the "Kinect" and its compatible games, details with pics will be posted later in the day as they become available.
